As a young man in Northern California, Levi Rodgers was looking for a way to better his life. Like so many young men, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1996. Just three years later, he accomplished his goal of being a Special Forces Green Beret. He had numerous deployments and was heavily decorated as a soldier from receiving the Bronze Star four times to eventually receiving the Purple Heart.

But life took Levi on a different path away from the Military. On Sept. 15, 2009, his vehicle was attacked in Afghanistan with an improvised explosive device and everyone in the vehicle was killed, including the young Afghan translator who accompanied them. The sole survivor was Levi who was pulled to safety by his friend and now coworker Pedro Solis.

Levi was put into a medically-induced coma for about a month since his injuries were so extensive. About 40% of his body was burned and he had numerous broken bones and internal injuries. Like many injured warriors, he and his family found themselves in San Antonio at Brooke Army Medical Center to begin the long road to recovery that included doctors rebuilding his face.

Levi’s grit, determination and focus comes from a place of overcoming adversity and a commitment to serving our country in whatever field he’s in. When the military was no longer an option for him, Levi found himself in need of a new career and livelihood - similar to many veterans. He was forced to sell his house to make ends meet and help launch his career in real estate.

Expertise

He earned his real estate license in 2011 and there has been no stopping him since. With no college education, this blown-up green beret transformed himself and his team of agents into one of the top-producing real estate companies in the U.S. and the nation.

 After a successful start with RE/MAX in 2012, The Levi Rodgers Real Estate Group (LRG) was started in 2020. Despite a worldwide pandemic, Levi and his team’s ability to personally connect with clients helped take LRG to the top spot in residential real estate sales in the San Antonio Business Journal.

The commitment Levi had for his country while serving in the military is the same commitment he brings to his clients and company. His team, which has about 15 employees, knows the purchase or sale of a home can be an emotional journey whether it’s for a first-time homebuyer or a veteran making the transition from military to civilian life.

He tells the story that what motivated him to be authentic was when he and his wife were looking to buy their first home. It was the frank talk of a real estate agent who put them on the right track. Levi and his wife thought a jacuzzi in a double-wide home seemed like the perfect buy. Instead, the agent said it was a ranch-style home with blue carpet that would be better. It was that real estate agent’s sincerity and that blue-carpeted home that later put him on a path to financial security.

From this experience, he learned to “never put the deal before the person.”

Guidance

The Levi Rogers Group has increased to over 60 real estate agents from all walks of life from top sellers, former teachers, medical professionals, veterans to those selling part time just to bring extra income to their families. No matter who the agent is, Levi encourages his team to always deliver on service, guide clients through an emotional journey and be an expert in selling or buying homes.

Levi believes hard work is a must, but so is down time with loved ones. He cherishes time spent with his two sons' sports games, watching movies with his family, or catching a Spurs game (in pre-COVID times).

Though Levi is no longer active in the military, his company’s program called "Bullets to Buildings" trains active military in real estate and places them in a job at Levi's company prior to their departure from service.

While Levi will never forget that fateful day on Sept. 15, 2009 where three soldiers were killed - Brad Bohle, Josh Mills and Shawn McCloskey - he acknowledges his mission here is not yet complete.

“The whole idea is to show the world that my people can do it, too,” Rodgers says. “I feel like I was left on Earth to help my people.”
